Utility Bills in Mallorca

When you move to another country, there is always that initial question of – how much are my bills going to be?? Coming from the UK we were very hopeful they were going to be much less than we paid, however our first gas bill was €300 which we were not expecting. Its also a bit tricky because when you call these companies to ask questions about the bill, often the staff don’t hablas Inglese … which can get interesting. In the end, it turns out that €300 is a completely normal amount to pay for three months of gas and we managed to speak to a very friendly person on the phone who spoke a little bit of English and explained this to us.

A few of our friends who have moved to this country have asked us what we pay for bills so we thought we’d do a blog post on the topic.

A few things to bear in mind before I reveal some numbers. I am basing my numbers off of what my friends and I pay in Mallorca for bills, as well as some internet research. Many people I’ve asked live in a 3-4 bedroom apartment, townhouse or house.

Water bill

Our landlord covers water but here is on average what a 4 bed home pays for water:

Year round – approx €70 per month

Gas

Approx €400 every three months.

Electricity

Summer – approx €150 per month.

Winter – approx €80 per month.

Internet

Approximately €35 per month

These costs can vary depending on how big your home is and how many people are living in it so the above is just a guide.
