There is a growing expat community in Mallorca especially amongst younger families and the selection of international schools and remote work makes this type of move more plausible than it used to be. It can feel scary to move away from family and friends but finding community on the island is easier than you might think.
If you and your family are thinking about moving but not sure where to start or even where on the island you should be looking we have some pointers.
A general rule is close to Palma and south west of the capital is generally pricier than if you look to live in Palma or on the south east side. Inland is also more affordable and offers a larger variety on bigger properties.
Areas to consider if you want to be close to international schools are:
– Santa Ponsa, lots of germans and touristy in high season, lots iof things to do and gated communities available
– Palma Nova, many brits and touristy in high season but things are open on a sunday which is a big +
– Bendinat, upscale area with close beach access and lovely properties
– Cala Nova/San Agusti more residential and offers many schools and nurseries close by
– Bonanova very residential and close to mall Porto Pi and Palma outskirts
– Son Vida, exclusive high end neighbourhood for the big wallet
– Genova restaurant heavy and residential close to Palma outskirts
– Portixol lovely beach boardwalk for activities and a genuine vibe
